Wood and metal. The earthy and the industrial. The ethereal and the solid.
I’m Haley Russell, the artist behind Wisp and Mallet, and through my craft, I explore and express my interest in duality, nature, and the feminine spirit.
I started metal stamping and woodburning during the Covid lockdown as an extension of my Irish language practice, making jewelry and trinkets out of words and phrases I found particularly meaningful. As my skills and confidence grew, I turned to making gifts for loved ones. Then pieces portraying bits of Irish and Celtic lore. By May of 2022, I was starting my own business and selling my work.
I’ve had individual pieces of my woodburned art shown in group exhibits in galleries throughout Central Indiana and published on the cover of inherspacejournal. Since October 2024, I have been a member of Full Circle Nine Gallery in Indianapolis, where you can find a significant selection of my work available for purchase.
